Participants

Twelve participants were involved in Part 1 of the research. The homogeneous characteristics of the group were defined through fourfold criteria listed below. The diversity of the group members emerged randomly through their versatile socio-demographic features. Six participants will be recruited to participate in the Part 2 of the research. The selection criteria are listed below.

Part 1: Conscience in recovery from alcohol addiction.

The following selection criteria offered possibility for participation:

· History of alcohol addiction;

· Successful achievement of abstinence and progressive recovery;

· Experience of spiritual and/or religious transformation;

· Maintaining spiritual edification and/or religious affiliation.

Note: this part of the research is completed and published under the title: Conscience in Recovery from Alcohol Addiction: Exploring the Role of Spirituality in Conscientious Transformation.

Part 2: Conscience in recovery from drug addiction.

The following selection criteria offer possibility for participation:

· History of drug addiction where the drug is defined as an illicit substance;

· Present state of abstinence and recovery;

· Experience of spiritual and/or religious transformation;

· Continuous spiritual growth.
